	Sunfood is a world renowned source of the highest quality raw foods and superfoods the planet has to offer. But who is Sunfood and how did we get started? Our story began in San Diego back in 1995 when a small team of health seekers came together to spread the word about something that was relatively unknown at the time: the benefits of raw foods and superfoods. It has been an incredible journey since then. We've been all over the world and discovered hundreds of beneficial foods. We helped bring foods like goji berries, raw cacao, goldenberries, maqui and many more to the forefront of the natural food world.

Our Philosophy We believe that human beings should be able to get all the nutrition they need from their foods, air and water, as they have for thousands of years, without a dependency on synthetic vitamins and supplements churned out by giant factories. The problem with this is that most of the readily available foods in modern cultures contain very little high quality nutrition. Most commercial grocery store foods have been heavily refined and can even contain GMOs and pesticide residues. Standard diets, due to poor quality soils, synthetic fertilizers and high heat and chemical processing, have left millions of people deficient in nutrients, and deficiencies lead to diseases. So our mission is to inspire individuals to include nutrient rich, pure, raw foods and superfoods in their diets. Nutrient rich foods can help people avoid and correct deficiencies. Deficiencies, whether they be vitamin, mineral or enzymatic, are at the root of most diseases. We believe in disease prevention and reversal through diet. Our Guiding Principles Raw – We know that heavy processing and high temperatures degrade foods and strip them of precious nutrients, so our foods are minimally processed using the lowest possible temperatures necessary to stabilize them. In most cases, this means that our foods are gently sun-dried or dehydrated, under 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This way they can be shipped to your doorstep and we can trust that you will have an incredible food experience. Organic – Pure foods mean no chemicals. Our foods are either 100% certified organic or wild-crafted and verifiably pesticide free. Non-GMO – We do not believe in the genetic modification of foods. Growing GMO crops could have an untold negative impact on the environment and biodiversity of our planet. Consuming GMO foods is a dangerous experiment that we do not believe should be carried out on an uninformed public. Sustainability - Exhausting natural resources is not an option. One of the first questions we have about any prospective product is "is it sustainable?" Can the product be produced without degrading the quality of the land, water, air and life of those involved with its cultivation? We want to make sure that the environment in which a food is grown will be as pure and potent in 100 years as it is today. Verification – Our foods are constantly monitored and tested so that we can guarantee that they are the most pure and nutrient rich available. Our foods are tested for nutrient content and to be sure they do not contain pesticide residues, heavy metals and other toxic substances. Who We Are Sunfood is made up of a highly dedicated team of rawfoodists, vegans, vegetarians and superfood experts and enthusiasts who all take our mission very seriously. Many of us have been here since the early beginnings of the company and our experience in this field is unparalleled. We live what we teach. We eat our foods every day, we juice, blend, sprout and learn and grow from our own personal health experiences. Our Company Sunfood is owned by a small group of likeminded individuals and based in sunny San Diego, California. The owners are committed to spreading the word about the importance of raw and organic foods and to also spread the word about the harmful effects of pesticides and the unknown effects of GMOs on our environment. Eco-Friendly We consider the environmental impact of everything we do and we constantly strive to reduce our carbon footprint. The electricity we use is generated by the solar panels on our roof! Our shipping boxes and mailing envelopes are made of up to 100% recycled materials and we seal our boxes with biodegradable paper tape. Our shipments are packed with unbleached, recycled kraft paper and voids are filled with 100% natural, corn-based, biodegradable "packing peanuts" to help protect your order during shipping.
